2022 CTD Rules

General Rules
- Competition Date: Saturday, March 5th 5:00 PM.
- Please check NEOTA website or Whatsapp for any updates to these rules.
- Registration fee: $5 per registration per participation per child.
- Registrations will close when we get enough entries, or by 9PM on Wednesday 02/23/22, whichever occurs first.

- Topics for the art contest and meeting links will be provided on NEOTA website (www.neota.org) a few days before the competition day.
- Topics for the essay competition will be provided on Friday, 03/04/22.
- Names of the contest winners will be announced at the end of the contests on Saturday, March 5th and posted on NEOTA website by Sunday, 03/06/22 at 10:00PM.
- Depending on number of registrations -
- NEOTA will determine age categories of each contest.
- NEOTA will determine to conduct a contest or not.
Drawing/ Painting/ Water colors/ Sketching
Grades: Category 1: Pre-school to Grade 2; Category 2: Grade 3-5
Date/ Time: Saturday, March 5th 5:00 PM during Children’s Talent Day event.
Contestants showcase their artistic abilities and creativity.
1. Contestants select a topic from among the list of topics provided by NEOTA:
a. Nature
b. Tribal art
c. Your favorite thing
d. Any story
2. Contestants should create their art, take a picture and upload their art via form on www.neota.org by 10:00AM on Friday, 03/04/22 midnight.
3. Only one art piece is allowed per contestant per topic.
4. Contestants are encouraged to join an online session (link to be provided by NEOTA a few days before the contest day) on Saturday, March 5th 5:00 PM during Children’s Talent Day event and explain their art creation (preferably in Telugu), in less than 2 minutes.
5. Judges’ decision is final. Judging criteria:
a. Interpretation of theme
b. Techniques
c. Originality
d. Overall presentation
e. Aesthetic value
Interactive Quiz for Grades: 5-8
Date/ Time: Saturday, March 5th 5:00 PM during Children’s Talent Day event. It ends after about 1 hour.
The goal is to test their general knowledge.
1. Kids should join the zoom meeting 10 minutes early to get situated.
2. The format of the quiz will be announced at the beginning of the quiz.
a. Multiple categories with questions from each (such as history, current events, mythology, movies/ entertainment, science, geography, math).
b. Right answer gets 1 point, wrong answer gets 0 points. No negative points.
c. Quiz master will pick one student to talk about the topic for 1 minute. No points will be added or taken out for the speech.
Essay-writing for Grades: Category 1: grades 7-9, Category 2: grades 10-11
Date/ Time: Friday, March 4th 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Announcement of results: Saturday, March 5th 5:00 PM at the end of Children’s Talent Day event.
1. Contestants will be given the topics to select from, on the day of the competition at least an hour before it starts.
2. Contestants select a topic, prepare for it, join the CTD virtual meeting 10 minutes before the competition starts and start writing on paper when the competition starts.
3. The essay should be less than 4 pages, on letter size (8.5X11) paper.
4. The duration of the Essay-writing competition is 45 minutes.
5. Contestants will be observed (via zoom or other online tool) during the 45 minutes. Contestants should keep their video turned on. Otherwise, they will be disqualified.
6. Contestants will be given a 15-minute, 30-minute and 40-minute alert after the start of the competition.
7. After 45 minutes, contestants are expected to stop writing, and scan or take picture(s) of their hand-written essay and upload it to NEOTA (form for uploading will be available on the website www.neota.org).
8. Contestants’ name should not be written on the essay. Only the Entry No. (to be provided by NEOTA) should be mentioned on the top of the essay.
